SMS group and its predecessor companies have been using their know-how for highly productive and modern converter steelplants for carbon steel worldwide. The portfolio includes complex BOF steelplants as well as new paths in the metallurgical process such as the Primary Energy Melter (PEM) and CONPRO.

The AOD converter is the basic equipment in stainless steelmaking. In addition, our Vacuum Converter combines the strengths of AOD and VOD technology in a single unit, taking a significant shortcut on the triplex route.

Nothing succeeds like success with ARCCESS^® electric arc furnace technology from SMS group. Our EAF, Conarc^® and SHARC technology and all components are dedicated to cutting the cost of electric steel production.

The secondary metallurgical post-treatment of the melt in the ladle furnace or under vacuum is employed to attain the desired level of quality and the right alloy. Our product portfolio includes vacuum systems (RH and RH-TOP plants, tank degassers of type VD, VOD, and VD-OB) as well as different types of ladle furnaces.

It's the job of tertiary metallurgical plants to create unique technological properties in ultra-pure steels, super alloys, cast alloys, and non-ferrous metals. Our Vacuum Induction Melting-Technology (VIM) applies a powerful process  to melt down selected scrap and refine the resulting liquid steel. The process involves casting ingots under vacuum, which further improves final-product quality.
